As the largest automotive market in Central Asia, Kazakhstan experiences steady growth in car demand, with annual new car sales consistently ranging from 100,000 to 200,000 units. In recent years, Chinese automotive brands have performed exceptionally well in the local market, achieving a leapfrog increase in market share: in 2020, the market share of Chinese automotive brands in Kazakhstan was only about 2%, climbing to 38% in 2024, and remaining at 34.5% in the first nine months of 2025. The number of Chinese brands has also increased from 1 in 2020 to 21, making it the second largest automotive group in the country after Korean brands.
