Nissan, Uber, and Wayve join forces to create a driverless taxi service.

Nissan, Uber, and UK AI company Wayve announced they will launch a pilot project for autonomous taxis in Tokyo by the end of 2026. Nissan will provide the Leaf electric vehicle, Wayve will provide the autonomous driving technology, and Uber will provide the ride-hailing platform. Initially, the vehicles will operate on the Uber platform and will be equipped with trained safety drivers.
