The entire founding team of the US AI company xAI has left, leaving only Elon Musk, the de facto controller and major shareholder. The exodus began at the end of last year, including core Grok member Igor Babuschkin and Inception author Christian Szegedy. In January of this year, Grok architect Greg Yang left; in February, Jimmy Ba, the proposer of the Adam optimizer, left. In March, four more key figures—core researcher Zihang Dai, Grok Code lead Guodong Zhang, pre-training lead Manuel Kroiss, and COO Ross Nordeen—also resigned.
