OmniVision Technologies Launches First Image Sensor with Full Phase Detection Coverage

OmniVision Technologies recently launched the OV50A image sensor, which has 50 million pixel resolution, 1.0 micron pixel size, selective conversion gain, quad phase detection (QPD) autofocus technology and on-chip pixel restoration algorithm. The sensor achieves 100% full phase detection autofocus coverage, which greatly improves autofocus speed and low-light performance compared to the 3%-6% coverage of microlens and semi-shielded PDAF technology. The OV50A also uses a large 1/1.5-inch optical format, providing excellent image quality for smartphone cameras.
