Russia plans to develop lithium mining projects to break dependence on imports of scarce metals

Russia plans to eliminate its dependence on imports of 12 scarce metals, including lithium and rare earths, in the next few years, and will accelerate the development of lithium mining projects. The director of the Russian Federal Underground Resources Agency said that by 2030, Russia is expected to eliminate its dependence on imports of these scarce raw materials, and part of its production will be oriented to export. Currently, Russia has not mined lithium, but lithium has important application value in the nuclear power industry, energy storage systems and electric vehicle batteries.
