AITO Automobile's official Weibo account released a statement at 14:57 on May 6, 2024, explaining the issues related to the new M7 Plus in the traffic accident on the Houping Expressway in Shanxi Province. The statement pointed out that the vehicle's AEB function was normal, but the speed of the accident exceeded the normal operating range, which was 115km/h. The L2-level assisted driving system is not Huawei's ADS 2.0 intelligent driving system. The cause of the vehicle fire was a short-circuit spark ignition of the front cabin components or wiring harness. The driver's seat belt was not fastened, and the co-pilot and rear seat belts had no buckle signal. The door failed to open in time after the collision because the power cord and signal cable were cut off and the door handle controller could not receive the signal.
