On April 19 last year, CATL released a condensed matter battery at the Shanghai Auto Show. According to Wu Kai, chief scientist of CATL, the condensed matter battery is participating in the cooperative development of a civilian electric manned aircraft project. The energy density of a condensed matter battery cell can reach up to 500 watt-hours per kilogram, which is higher in specific energy and safety than the current mainstream ternary lithium battery (about 250 watt-hours per kilogram) and lithium iron phosphate battery (about 180 watt-hours per kilogram).
