Tesla 4680 battery disassembly and performance analysis

Since its commercialization in 1991, lithium-ion battery technology has made significant progress. In 2022, global electric vehicle sales exceeded 26 million, a year-on-year increase of 60%. Tesla's 4680 battery has higher energy and power advantages, and its volume is 5.5 times larger than the 21700 battery. BMW's new electric vehicle platform Neue Klasse also uses 46mm diameter cylindrical batteries. Academic lithium-ion battery research can only serve as a reference for a few performances due to its small scale and simple process. This study provides a basis for understanding the characteristics of the 4680 battery.
