Competition between China and Japan in the field of solid-state batteries is becoming increasingly fierce. The Chinese company Tailan New Energy recently announced a major breakthrough in automotive-grade all-solid-state lithium battery technology. Its tested energy density reached 720Wh/kg, which is much higher than Toyota's previously claimed solid-state battery that can be charged in 10 minutes, has a range of 1,200 kilometers, and has an energy density of only 400Wh/kg. The performance has been improved by 80%. In addition, many leading Chinese automakers are also actively deploying solid-state batteries. GAC Group plans to install all-solid-state batteries in vehicles in 2026, one year earlier than Toyota's previously announced mass production time.
