Maruti Suzuki plans to build second plant in Gujarat, India and expand production capacity

Maruti Suzuki, India's largest automaker, announced plans to invest approximately $4.2 billion to build a second car plant in Gujarat, India, and add a new production line to the existing plant. The new production line at the existing plant is expected to be put into operation by fiscal 2027, and the new plant will begin operations two years later. This will increase the company's annual production capacity in Gujarat from the current 750,000 vehicles to 2 million vehicles. Maruti Suzuki aims to double its annual production capacity to 4 million vehicles in fiscal 2031.
