Taiwan's TSMC is considering building advanced packaging capacity in Japan, which would help Japan restart its semiconductor industry, according to people familiar with the matter. TSMC's CoWoS packaging technology could be introduced to Japan. TSMC has not yet decided on the size or timeline of the potential investment.
