GM's restructuring of its China business is expected to generate more than $5 billion in impairment and charges

GM plans to take more than $5 billion in charges and impairments in restructuring its China operations, according to recent securities filings. That includes a $2.6 billion to $2.9 billion write-down on the value of its Chinese joint ventures and an estimated $2.7 billion in restructuring charges.
