Qian Jun, one of the founders of Hanbo Semiconductor, joined Cisco, a giant in the chip industry, after obtaining a master's degree in computer engineering from the University of Iowa in 1995. Later, he joined AMD and participated in AMD's Northern Islands series GPU design project. While working at AMD, Qian Jun met his future partner Zhang Lei. In 2011, Qian Jun was sent to China by AMD and successfully expanded AMD's Chinese team from dozens of people to nearly 400 people. In this process, he saw the improvement of domestic chip design capabilities and had the idea of starting a business. So, in December 2018, he and Zhang Lei co-founded Hanbo Semiconductor, dedicated to developing China's first truly easy-to-use cloud AI chip.
