Nissan to offer early retirement to about 1,000 U.S. employees

A Nissan Motor Co. spokesman said about 6% of the company's U.S. employees have accepted early retirement packages as part of the company's plan to cut 9,000 jobs worldwide. As a result of the early retirement, about 1,000 U.S. employees will leave Nissan by the end of this year.
