TSMC receives $6.6 billion in subsidies from the US government to build an advanced chip factory in the US

The U.S. Department of Commerce announced on November 15 that it has decided to provide TSMC's U.S. subsidiary in Arizona with a $6.6 billion government subsidy for semiconductor production. TSMC plans to use the funds to build a third wafer fab in Phoenix, Arizona, with a total investment of more than $65 billion. The plant will produce advanced chips, including 5-nanometer and 6-nanometer chips. In addition, TSMC will receive a $5 billion low-interest government loan.
