UMC and Intel collaborate on 12nm process platform

At its annual shareholders meeting, wafer foundry giant UMC said it will work with Intel to develop a 12nm process platform, which is expected to be completed in 2026 and put into mass production in 2027. This cooperation will combine Intel's large-scale manufacturing capabilities in the United States with UMC's rich wafer foundry experience to meet the rapidly growing needs of the mobile, communications infrastructure and network markets.
