Application of LiDAR in Autonomous Driving and Future Development Trends

27
As a comprehensive light detection and measurement system, LiDAR plays a key role in autonomous driving at level L3 and above. It calculates the relative distance between the target object and the vehicle by emitting and receiving laser beams, analyzing the return time after the laser encounters the target object. LiDAR has the characteristics of high precision and real-time 3D environment modeling, making it a key sensor for achieving L3-L5 autonomous driving. At present, the core technology of LiDAR is mainly in the hands of Velodyne, Ibeo, Quanergy and other companies. With the development of technology and the reduction of costs, LiDAR is expected to be more widely used in the future.
