Infineon Technologies AG announced that the first phase of its world's largest and most efficient 200mm silicon carbide power semiconductor wafer fab in Malaysia has officially started production. The plant will mainly produce silicon carbide power semiconductors and cover the production of gallium nitride epitaxy. The first phase of the new plant will create 900 high-value jobs, and the second phase of the project will invest up to 5 billion euros to build the world's largest and most efficient 200mm silicon carbide power semiconductor wafer fab. With the continued investment in the Kulim wafer fab in Malaysia, Infineon's total planned investment has increased from the initial 2 billion euros to 7 billion euros.
