In June 2019, Xilinx announced that it had delivered Versal AlCore series and Versal Prime series devices to multiple Tier1 customers through the company's early access program. Xilinx calls Versal the industry's first adaptive computing acceleration platform (ACAP). The platform is designed to be a highly integrated multi-core heterogeneous computing platform that can be changed at the hardware and software levels to dynamically adapt to the needs of various applications, including applications and workloads in the data center, automotive, 5G wireless, wired and security markets. Zynq UltraScale + MPSOC FPGA is used to process advanced neural network algorithms for machine learning, and MentorIP is used to host integration services for system support. Zynq UltraScale + MPSoC promises a 5x performance improvement over the earlier Zync-7000 SoC while maintaining the lowest power consumption. In December 2019, Xilinx announced that its automotive (XA) Zynq UltraScale + MPSoC (XAZU5EV) will support the AVP platform of Baidu's Apollo Computing Unit (ACU).
