SK Hynix announces its HBM2E for Waymo self-driving cars

SK Hynix's HBM2E has been used in Waymo's self-driving cars. This is the first time that SK Hynix has disclosed its supply of high-bandwidth memory (HBM) to Google's Waymo. The move marks the shift of automotive DRAM semiconductors from LPDDR 4 to LPDDR 5, and HBM is expected to become mainstream in the next three years. As autonomous driving technology becomes more popular, the demand for HBM will grow rapidly. SK Hynix has begun to increase the production capacity of HBM and general-purpose DRAM memory at its M16 wafer fab to meet market demand.
