In a series of recent personnel adjustments at Samsung Electronics, the job stability of Siyoung Choi, president of the foundry business, and Park Young-in, president of the logic chip business, has also been challenged unprecedentedly. According to internal sources, the two executives may face replacement due to the continued losses faced by their respective departments. Samsung Electronics is expected to carry out major personnel reorganizations by the end of this year, with up to 30% of senior executives facing layoffs, as it has been surpassed by its domestic rival SK Hynix in the high-bandwidth memory (HBM) business and has widened the gap with TSMC in the foundry market. As of the second quarter of this year, Samsung's semiconductor business department had 438 senior executives, accounting for 38% of Samsung Electronics' 1,164 executives. This figure is more than twice that of SK Hynix, which has 199 senior executives.
