SK Hynix CEO predicts surge in demand for high-bandwidth memory in AI data centers

SK Hynix CEO Lu Zheng Guo said at the annual shareholders' meeting that the demand for high-bandwidth memory (HBM) in AI data centers is expected to "explode" this year. SK Hynix's HBM production capacity has been sold out, and after negotiations with customers, it is expected that the 2026 capacity will also be sold out in the first half of this year. The company has begun supplying 12-layer HBM3E to Nvidia and other global customers, and has begun to provide 12-layer HBM4 samples. Lu Zheng Guo pointed out that the 12-layer HBM4 will be produced later this year.
