Datang Mobile sues Xiaomi in Germany

Datang Mobile Communications Equipment Co., Ltd. has filed three LTE/4G technology patent lawsuits against Xiaomi in Germany. These patents include cell switching methods, uplink power control, and adaptive modulation and coding, which are all core technologies of 4G communications. This lawsuit is another legal action by Datang Mobile after it reached a global patent licensing agreement with Samsung. If Xiaomi cannot reach an agreement with Datang Mobile, its 4G devices in the German market may face a sales ban, which will have a direct impact on its European business. Xiaomi's previous way of dealing with patent disputes was mainly to apply for patent invalidation or assert the reasonableness of FRAND rates, but its success rate in patent invalidation lawsuits is low.
