Broadcom cancels plans for chip factory in Spain

US chipmaker Broadcom announced that it would cancel plans to build a $1 billion semiconductor packaging and testing plant in Spain, which was to be the first back-end facility in Europe, due to a breakdown in negotiations with the Spanish government.
