BYD launches "megawatt flash charging" technology, potentially bringing the charging speed of electric vehicles up to par with that of gasoline vehicles.

BYD announced that it will launch its "Megawatt Flash Charge" technology in the first quarter of 2026. This technology boasts a peak power of 1000kW and can achieve "400km range with just 5 minutes of charging." This technology will be launched alongside two new models from BYD's Haiyang.com brand—the Seal 08 and the Haishi 08. BYD achieved this fast charging performance by upgrading core components such as batteries and motors to a 1000V high-voltage platform and utilizing its self-developed flash charging battery. In addition, BYD also introduced a dual-gun fast charging solution that can achieve a peak power of up to 441kW at ordinary public fast charging stations.
