Renault plans to source electric drive components in Shanghai, China, to produce the motor for its new small electric vehicle in France. This move aims to address the sluggish European market and protect profits by reducing costs. Renault has already imported small electric powertrains produced in Shanghai Electric Drive, China, for its newly developed Twingo model. Thanks to the involvement of Chinese suppliers and engineers, the car's development cycle was less than two years.
