Elon Musk stated that Tesla's AI6 chip is expected to complete tape-out in December. The AI6 is Tesla's sixth-generation dedicated AI chip, manufactured using Samsung's second-generation 2nm process, and is projected to enter mass production in 2027 and launch in 2028. Musk also predicted that the limiting factor for AI development will shift from chips to energy, but once space-based solar energy is developed and utilized, the limiting factor will return to chips.
