SK Hynix is out, Samsung becomes Nvidia's exclusive supplier of HBM3E memory

It is reported that due to problems encountered by SK Hynix in some projects, the 12-layer HBM3E memory required by Nvidia will be supplied exclusively by Samsung. HBM3E memory requires multiple layers of DRAM to be connected through silicon vias (TSV) on the base wafer. The first batch of products uses 8-layer stacking with a capacity of 24GB. Although SK Hynix sent samples to Nvidia, it ultimately failed to launch 12-layer HBM3E products. Samsung has successfully developed the industry's first 12-layer stacked HBM3E, which is expected to start mass production in the second half of this year.
